While raclette is traditionally enjoyed in winter, often at Christmas or New Year’s gatherings, it’s worth incorporating into meals year-round due to its simplicity and versatility. Planning for a cool autumn weekend? Invite friends over for a raclette night. You’ll find that it’s a surefire way to create a memorable experience, as guests often haven’t indulged in the delights of raclette pans for months.
The term raclette is often used interchangeably to describe both the raclette grill and the famous cow’s milk cheese that melts beautifully.
Raclette sets come in various designs, sizes, and with different grill plate options. At kela, our raclette sets include the base unit, individual raclette pans, and spatulas. Depending on the model, the set may feature a granite stone plate, such as our Raclette Ceneri, or a non-stick coated grill plate.
The raclette pans, commonly used to gratinate vegetables and sides with cheese, are non-stick coated, so there’s no need for additional oil. Guests can customize their pans throughout the meal, topping them with their favourite ingredients to grill under the heating element.
Finally, the spatulas are an essential part of any raclette set. They protect the pans from scratches, ensuring they remain in great condition. For larger gatherings, make sure there are enough spatulas for everyone. Spatulas are available in plastic or traditional wood and can be purchased separately, such as the Raclette spatula Arbon, in our online shop.
Thanks to its versatility and variety, raclette is a meal everyone can enjoy! While some guests might prefer the classic ingredients, others may be intrigued to try unexpected combinations, like pairing fruits (mango, pear, figs) with cheese. One of the great things about a raclette dinner is the communal aspect—everyone gathers around the table, and there’s something to suit every preference. This makes raclette not only about delicious food but also about sharing good conversations and creating relaxing, memorable moments together.
Raclette is also an excellent option for hosting vegetarians or vegans. Simply expand the selection of vegetables and fruits and look for a vegan cheese alternative. Fun fact: the traditional raclette dish is vegetarian by origin
The pans are perfect for making desserts directly in them. Try a butter biscuit, a thin chocolate bar on top and some mini marshmallows as a topping. Now place under the grill and as soon as the marshmallows are lightly browned and the chocolate melts ... - ENJOY. Another delicious idea is to bake small pancakes in the pans. The batter should be prepared for this, but it's up to the guests to decide how to bake them.
A small selection of bread (baguettes, hearty varieties) is an absolute must-have side dish for your raclette evening. Homemade sauces and delicious dips perfectly complement the meal. And for those who enjoy it, wine is the perfect pairing for raclette.
Given the wide range of ingredients, both robust red wines and light white wines go beautifully with the meal. These thoughtful additions will make your raclette experience even more delightful and memorable!

If you enjoy cosy meals and ‘cooking’ together at the table and are looking for an alternative to raclette, then the hot stone could be an idea.
In addition to raclette appliances with a stone plate, the hot stone is also available without pans. Many foods can be prepared on the hot stone: Fish, meat, vegetables and even fruit can be grilled on the granite stone.
One variant is the Country hot stone, which is brought to temperature in the oven and is used for keeping warm or roasting vegetables or very thin and tender pieces of meat and fish.
Many of our models also have a raclette grill combined with a hot stone. In this case, there is a granite plate on top and the raclette grill offers parallel space for the pans. A raclette grill with a stone is somewhat heavier than a raclette grill with a grill plate, but the hot stone is simply something special.
With grill plate or hot stone? kela has both versions in its range. The pieces of meat, bacon or fish are prepared on the grill plate or the hot stone. Decide which plate you prefer.
These raclette appliances consist of the raclette grill and a matching natural stone plate made of granite. In these models, the raclette grill has a coated metal grill plate. The grill plate is quickly brought up to temperature by the heating coil. A nice side effect of these grill plates are the typical grill stripes that the food gets. The coated metal grill plate is slightly lighter than a stone plate.
